We was about to boil over the top
We was pushin' and pullin' with no signs of stopping.
Our hearts were on fire, the tension was talking
My pulse was on a bender, 'til reason came a-knockin', saying:

"What's goin on? Why are you so mad?
That attitude of yours might break everything you have.
Are you motivated by fear instead of love?
Will you sink to the bottom, or rise up above?
What's goin on? Why are you so mad?"
That anger was making me ugly.

Up inside your head it's like highway that winds
Like the sun when the sky is clear, its when that mind can shine
But when it's cloudy yeah there's trouble up ahead
Your thoughts become a traffic jam of things you've never said, saying':

"What's goin on, buddy, is it getting bad?
Are all of them little things driving you mad?
Can you travel freely on the freeway in your mind?
Or are you caught up in that traffic? are ya bottled up inside?
What's goin on, why are you so mad?"
That anger is making you ugly.
